Kathua, January 21 (KNO) : National Conference (NC) on Monday said that people of Jammu and Kashmir in the three distinct geographical regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh can never forget the role National Conference (NC) party played in the emancipation of the people and all round development and progress of the state over last seven decades. Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, Additional General Secretary National Conference in his address to public meetings at Kathua Village of Nagri Tehsil has said that NC’s basic principal of power of the people, by the people and for the people was practically put in place by National Conference by providing parliamentary democracy in 1947 -48 with states own constitution and Flag and obtained safeguards from the Indian Parliament in the form of Article 370 and Article 35-A. “National Conference also abolished the Land-Lordism and gave land to the tiller free of cost after a painful 100 years long period from 1846 under the infamous treaty of Amritsar between the British East India Company and Maharaja Gulab Singh,” Kamal said as per a statement issued to KNO “National Conference also ensured vital sectors like health, Education, Judiciary, Agriculture, Horticulture, Tourism, and Transport are put in place as also development of infrastructure like roads, irrigation, electricity and drinking water. It is because of these measures J&K has become a model welfare State which is the envy of other states of India,” he said. Dr. Kamaal also cautioned the people that the battle of ballot is between forces that are creating all round hatred between regions on basis of religion, language, colour or creed. “Lawless and killings has reached dangerous dimensions which is threatening the very unity and integrity of India. And, behind all this is the BJP. In a Wane bid the BJP is raking up Mandir- Masjid and communal politics. Hoping to garner votes in the upcoming elections to the parliament,” said Dr. Kamaal . To defeat these forces, National Conference appealed to people to unite and make these forces ‘eat dust’ in 2019 elections failing which India will fall apart. Referring to problems of people, Dr. Kamaal said that present rule of Satya Pal Malik has done immense harm to the people. Daily rated workers are without wages and not regularized, Anganwadi workers are without salary and centers without rations. Corruption in public life has grown into a monster and widow and old age pension has not been disbursed since long. “National Conference, if voted to power will ensure that all pending problems shall be redressed. Rations like Sugar and Kerosene oil is not available and the cost has been increased,” he said. Dr. Kamaal also stated that National Conference is committed to resolution of the Kashmir issue through peaceful means between India and Pakistan true to words of Sher-I – Kashmir Late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah to make LOC a Bridge of peace and friendship, soften the borders and live and let live and let not the line dividing India and Pakistan on the map divide the hearts and minds of the people of the two country.(KNO)
